A rare Chucu tablet

A very rare tablet from a Peruvian culture discovered in the seventies in the Arequipa district, Chucu mountains, south of Lima. These tablets are made from terracotta pots that were ritually broken and afterwards painted in bright colours. The decorations often shows animals, human figures or natural phenomens as lightning, rain and storm. The tablets were stored in hidden caves and probably worshipped by local shamans. Arequipa district, Peru. 900- 1000 AD.
