A very rare astrolabium

Very rare eighteenth century astrolabium. Of eight-sided form, standing on three legs. Crafted of brass and iron, then gilded, hammered and decorated. A circular glass lid in the middle. Manufactured and drawn by Nikolaus Rugendas (III) in Augsburg, dated: 1700-1750.

Museum für Kunstgewerbe in Frankfurt am Main.
Reclaimed by the Dutch Art Property Foundation, it was exhibited for years in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
Returned to the art dealer’s Mogrobi’s heirs in 2023 by the Restitution Committee, including Mr. Jakobsen.
Purchased December 2024.
