Papua New Guinea stone axe
Nice wood hilt, stone axe from Papua New Guinea. Wood, stone, rope with orchid stem, the yellow one. Dated around 1900 or older. For the Papuan tribes, stone axe is one of their traditional weapon in Papua. The edge of the stone axe is usually oval and framed with weavings from wood fiber and orchid. They usually use the stone axe for cutting and gouging.
